Have you
come to see that your life is empty and without purpose? Do you want to
find a path that is full of meaning and real success? Start with God.
Perhaps you
are a Christian that is dealing with personal doubts or are being
challenged to test your beliefs and even your very heart to see if your
faith is genuine. Start with God.
What does
“start with God” really mean? There are many who speak for God and about
God that do not know Him. Do not let a man take that earnest desire to
seek God’s way and deceptively turn you to the ways and thoughts of men.
Why not let God tell us about His nature and what His ways are like by
reading His own words?
The God who Made All Things
When God
gives descriptions of Himself we would do well to listen carefully. Hear
His words through Isaiah:
“Have you
not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The
Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His
understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to
those who have
no might He
increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the
young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall
renew
their
strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be
weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
(Isaiah 40:28-31)
Do not
accept anything less than the one true God. When you find Him you have
found the One who:
1. Is
everlasting
2. Who
created all things
3. Who
never tires or grows weary (All Powerful)
4. Who has
infinite wisdom
5. Who
wishes to bless and provide for those who seek Him (Wait on the Lord).
The failure
to know God is
the source of all moral and doctrinal departures.
Those who doubt God’s ability to create the universe in seven days, or
to produce a perfect message that transcends all cultures or to have the
ability and wisdom to bring about a unified people have simply not come
to know God. When we come to know God we in turn realize our own
insignificance, especially in our knowledge and power and thus our
response is simply to wish to hear and believe whatever God reveals. As
Eli told Samuel: “Speak Lord, for your servant hears.”
(1 Samuel 3:9)
In addition
to daily recognizing and praising God for who He is, we need to daily
recognize what God has done and is doing in our lives. The one who keeps
the one true God in his mind will be filled with thanksgiving and
praise. Our very identity will be shown by our praise to our God!
“O Lord,
open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.” – (Psalm
51:15)
“So
we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever;
We will show forth Your praise to all generations.” – (Psalm
79:13)
When we
thus “start with God” in making a turn in our lives and then in starting
every day, our perspective will change on all things!
